Cape Cod is home to a plethora of theaters and performance venues. A large group of talented actors, singers and musicians have migrated to the Cape both year-round and seasonally to bring residents and visitors some of the highest quality shows in the region. From plays to fully-staged musicals to symphony concerts, there’s never a lack of events to choose from. We’ve created a venue guide to help you plan your creative arts adventures while visiting Cape Cod this season.
Eventide Theatre Company
Just a few miles from the Inn at Yarmouth Port is an absolute gem of a performance organization called, The Eventide Theatre Company. Interestingly, the company performs at the Gertrude Lawrence Stage located in the Dennis Union Church in the heart of Dennis Village. Founded in 1998, this highly acclaimed group of exceptional performers continues to present a variety of cultural events including concerts, plays. musicals, and a play writing competitions. Kathleen, your Innkeeper and several staff often perform here. Our pick is “Company”, Stephen Sondheim’s musical comedy which examines marriage from all angles! Bobby is played by Zack Johnson, our newest staff member! Kathleen Larson Day, your Innkeeper is playing Joanne. Do not miss this!

Cotuit Center For the Arts
Just a 20 minute drive from The Inn at Yarmouth Port, is the Cotuit Center for the Arts (CCftA) From concerts, the live theater productions to art classes, this is a year round hub of creativity. Combine a stay at the Inn at Yarmouth Port with a concert or sculpture class, and you’ve got a perfect getaway. Our pick for the Spring is their production of Neil Simon’s Barefoot in the Park. Our best pick of the summer is their upcoming production of “Hello Dolly” which will run through July into early August.

The Cultural Center of Cape Cod
The Cultural Center of Cape Cod is one of the most engaging and accessible cultural organizations in the region. The mission of the Center is to serve the entire Cape community and visitors to the area by offering instruction, entertainment, and exhibition in the visual, literary, and performing arts. Programming at the Center reflects real needs and priorities and is echoed by its motto: All the Arts for All of Us. You’ll find concerts, art classes, dance lessons, yoga and more.
Fun Fact: The Steinway Grand piano in the parlor at The Inn at Yarmouth Port was the performance piano for over ten years at The Center until it was relocated to the Inn in 2018 by the new Innkeepers.
The Cape Playhouse
For over 90 years, the legendary Cape Playhouse has been bringing professional summer theatre to Cape Cod. Often referred to as the “Birthplace of the Stars,” The Cape Playhouse has attracted a long litany of famous actors since its inception in 1927. From Bernadette Peters, to Tallulah Bankhead, Bette Davis to Henry Fonda, the stage of the Cape Playhouse has been graced by some of the greatest talent in the American theatre.
Cape Cod Theater Company/HJT
From its simple beginnings at the legendary Exchange Hall in Harwich Center to its current incarnation as a nationally recognized, year-round source of education and entertainment, this beloved multi-generational community theatre group has been producing excellent theater since 1970. If you’re traveling with children, this is the theater to check-out.
Cape Rep Theater
The Cape Rep Theatre boast an artist-driven summer full of indoor and outdoor theater and events for all ages. Their educational events will appeal to families with children and their indoor full scale musicals feature professional actors as well as local talent.
Wellfleet Harbor Actor’s Theater
Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater is a not-for-profit professional theater company dedicated to enriching the cultural life of the Outer Cape through plays and innovative programming that entertains, inspires, and informs a multi-generational audience.
Cape Symphony
The Cape Symphony started in 1962 and today is one of the largest orchestras in Massachusetts. Its Artistic Director and Conductor Jung-Ho Pak leads 75 professional musicians and enlists emerging world-wide talent to bring the joy of music to Cape Cod and its visitors year-round. All concerts are held in the 1400-seat Barnstable Performing Arts Center in Hyannis, MA. During the summer, the orchestra performs to thousands of residents and vacationers at outdoor events.
Cape Cod Melody Tent
If you’re looking for rock concerts, comedy or touring bands, check out the Cape Cod Melody Tent’s schedule. Established in 1950 by Actress Gertrude Lawrence the Tent now is a 2,250 seat venue in Hyannis attracting some of today’s most popular acts. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
The Inn at Yarmouth Port
Did you know that the Inn at Yarmouth Port is the best place to stay while attending a show? Located mid-cape, the Inn is the perfect backdrop for resting yourself after concert and theater adventures. Our Innkeeper, Kathleen Larson Day, is a local performer and the Inn employs actors.
