We’ve carefully curated 4 quick ideas for fun things to do, see and taste this autumn.

Book now and pack your bags! We’d love to see you soon.

  1. CURL UP WITH A BOOK FROM PARNASSUS BOOK SERVICES.

Take the five-minute stroll from the Inn at Yarmouth Port to Parnassus Book Services. Located right on historic Route 6A, this third-generation, family owned book store houses a wonderful selection of new, used, and rare books. You’ll love getting lost in this shop as much as you’ll love getting lost in your new book!

  1. EXPLORE THE ECLECTIC EDWARD GOREY HOUSE.

Edward Gorey was a writer, artist, and playwright. Known for his whimsical and surreal illustrations and stories, Gorey lived in Yarmouth Port from 1986 until his passing in 2000. You can now explore his eclectic home as well as some of his astonishing work at the Edward Gorey House, located less than a ten-minute walk from the inn. Our guests rave about the 2020 exhibition, “Zealously” an exhibit of unfinished works and “what’ ifs and lists” allowing us to trespass into material Gorey never intended to make public. It’s the perfect exhibit for a fall afternoon on the Cape.

  1. TAKE A CAPE COD BEER TOUR

An easy ten-minute drive from the Inn at Yarmouth Port will take you to the Cape Cod Beer brewery. Cape Cod Beer got its start in 2004 with a single employee and has since evolved to housing a thirty-barrel brew house with a huge selection. You can catch a tour of the brewing facilities daily at 11 AM. When your tour is done, you can grab a tasting of some of their delicious offerings. Their seasonal brew, Cape Cod Harvest, is a fall favorite.

  1. TAKE IN A CRISP AUTUMN SUNSET AT GRAY’S BEACH.

A five-minute drive will take you to one of our favorite sunset-viewing spots on all of Cape Cod. Gray’s Beach features an eight-hundred-foot boardwalk over a picturesque marsh and unbeatable ocean views. It is a popular summer destination, but we find the sights and solitude of this natural wonder more enjoyable in the quiet of autumn. Some say walking the boardwalk is almost like walking into a painting.

MORE RELAXED THAN YOU EVER ANTICIPATED

At day’s end, head back to the The Inn at Yarmouth Port and pick up your daily baked treats and curl-up around the crackling fire table with your favorite beverage, book or person. Our plush, over-stuffed beds beckon with cozy sheets and cozier quilts. By the time your autumn weekend comes to a close, you are sure to feel more relaxed than you ever anticipated.
